NSW:Bluescope:it's the dark side of the boom=2

AWU official John Thornton said the job cuts at the plant amount to a 60 per cent reduction
in production.

"It's a hard call, it's not going to be easy... I don't believe they will get enough
voluntary (redundancies)," he told reporters.

He said the 3200 workers at the plant, who were told about the cuts on Monday morning,
have been left with a great deal of uncertainty.

"They have got to go home and face their families... not knowing if they have got a
job next month," he said.
