Follow the example set by men in Philadelphia

As in most urban areas, crime in the city of Philadelphia has increased over the last year. The city had hundreds more robberies and aggravated assaults in 2006 than it did in 2005 and nearly 30 more murders.

Law enforcement, seemingly at a loss as to how to curb the violence, put out a call to the area's Black men and asked them to help patrol the street's in their neighborhoods, the area's most affected by the growth in crime.

The brothers did not disappoint. Thousands of Black men took to the streets of Philadelphia earlier this month, answering the call put out by the city's police department. While it's too soon to tell what effect these volunteer …
