Sri Lanka, May 13 -- Subsequent to our exposure yesterday that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have paid up bills totalling to more than a whopping 2.7 million Rupees to one mobile phone company within the first four months of this year, "Daily Mirror" has received further documents to claim that SLC had paid more than Rs. 1.9 million to another mobile phone operator for the same period.
SLC had paid up 14 bills to Dialog Axiata and Dialog Broadband Networks for mobile phones and mobile broadband internet connections used by SLC officials during the period from January to April this year to an exact total of Rs. 1,908,804.84, according to documents "Daily Mirror" has secured.
This means that the total mobile phone and mobile broadband internet connection cost of SLC officials had exceeded a stunning Rs. 4.6 million for the first four months of this year. The exact total of mobile phone and broadband bills paid by SLC from January to April reads Rs. 4,623, 180.41 Five bills for Dialog mobile phones of SLC officials have been Rs. 357,728.01, Rs. 139,675.74, Rs. 176,372.33, Rs. 300,636.06, Rs. 519,630.75 for the said period.
Interestingly SLC had also paid two bills to Dialog for what has been listed as "Excess phone charges on SLC officials" worth Rs. 96,299.21 and Rs. 8,815.06.
"Daily Mirror" disclosed yesterday that, From January 13th to 29th April this year, SLC had paid up 18 bills to a total of Rs. 2,714,375.57 to Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel who interestingly is the sponsor of the Sri Lanka national cricket team.
Mobitel secured the sponsorship of the Sri Lanka team for US $ 4.85 (Rs. 550 million) in May 2009 for a four year period.
